Future Enhancements

The Joint Advisory Board and the Texas ERC strive to support timely and useful additions to the research center's data warehouse. The data sets listed below are planned for release in the near future by their parent organizations and the appropriate Texas state agencies. These data sets will be accessible by researchers as soon as they become available to the Texas ERC.

  • Student-to-Teacher tracking information for PK-12
  • SAT and ACT student performance data
  • National Student Clearinghouse information

Adding Supplemental Data

Procedures and mechanisms are available to enable researchers to add supplemental data to the Texas ERC data warehouse for use by a specific research project. In cases where student records within these supplemental data must be matched to corresponding Texas ERC student data records, the TEA and the THECB will provide alternative ID mapping services. To comply with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements, these supplemental data files must have a destruction date that corresponds with the end of the dependent research project.

Data Formats and Documentation

The format and content of the data in the Texas ERC data warehouse are based on the format and content of the information that comes from the TEA, the THECB, and the TWC. These agencies maintain documentation on their own web sites that describe the data provided by them.
